PURRIMETER — THE GARDEN GUARD

Windows: extract the entire ZIP, then double-click Purrimeter.exe.
Keep Purrimeter.pck beside the executable. No editor or installation is needed.
Mac: open Purrimeter.app.

Choose Single player or Multiplayer at launch. Both use your same saved garden.
Multiplayer supports up to three players. Choose a name in Connection settings.
The default server is purrimeter.graham.pub (available once its owner deploys it).
Create a named game with an optional password, or join an open game from the list.
Your field is on the left; other fields share the right. View enlarges another
player's field for read-only inspection and plays its music and gameplay effects.
Your garden keeps its running or paused state. Closing View restores your audio.
Each player progresses and rebirths independently.
T focuses chat, Enter sends, and Esc leaves the text box. Mute hides a player's messages.
The game owner can kick players. Ownership passes on when they leave.
A dropped connection pauses your garden and reserves your place for 60 seconds.
Reconnect automatically, then Resume; Continue offline in the Escape menu keeps your garden locally.

Click a cat card, then an empty tile to recruit. Keys 1/2/3 select cats.
Click a placed cat to upgrade, repair or sell. Each cat has five upgrades.
Click an enemy or boss to inspect its animated portrait, health, speed, damage and effects.
Inspection does not change targeting. Esc or Back to powerups closes the inspector.
Level health below the arrival counts includes the whole wave, even enemies yet to arrive.
Space pauses. Build while paused. Esc cancels placement. N starts the level.
With no placement or inspection active, Esc opens the pause menu. Menu opens it directly.
The menu contains Route on/off, Sound on/off, Export, Import, New Garden, help,
and a confirmed return to the main menu.
Closing the menu keeps combat paused. Resume continues it. Other players keep playing.
Auto-start next level is off by default; use the Auto checkbox beside Start. After a clear,
a large 3-2-1 counts down in the garden. Space pauses it; N starts early.
Your choice is saved. Defeat and rebirth still wait for a manual start.
Tab / Shift+Tab move between controls and the garden; Enter activates.
On the garden, arrow keys move the cursor; Enter recruits or inspects a cat or enemy.
During paused combat, Resume level continues the current attempt.
Select powerup icons to see permanent benefits, next-rank requirements and prices.
Available shows discovered powers with ranks remaining; Owned shows your collection.
Each rank needs its own milestone and coins. New icons appear as you progress.
Patrol Training has unlimited ranks; earn lifetime kills to unlock further ranks.
After inspecting a cat or enemy, Back to powerups restores your previous selection.

Enemies take the shortest open path. Block every route and they attack cats.
Repeated backtracking turns an enemy red. After 12 tile-lengths of revisits,
red with sweat signals permanent frenzy: it breaks through cats toward the exit.
Slow and stun still work. Long unchanged mazes do not trigger frenzy.
Enemies move diagonally, but cannot cut across cat corners. Cats touching
at a corner form a wall. Keep both side tiles clear during a diagonal crossing.
One escaping enemy ends the attempt and sends you back one level.
Your coins and surviving cats stay, including damage. Repair as needed.
Each level doubles total enemy health. Bosses arrive every tenth level.

After clearing level 5, Rebirth works during combat or between attempts.
It returns you to level 1 with all coins,
surviving cats, upgrades, powerups and discoveries. Cats heal fully. Each rebirth adds
10 percentage points of coin bonus per highest level cleared that run.
The unfinished level adds no rebirth bonus. Level one waits for manual Start.
Bonuses add together. Clear level 5 again to qualify for another rebirth.

The game autosaves and resumes paused. Export/Import in the pause menu lets you transfer
progress between computers. New Garden resets all progress after confirmation.
Import and New Garden also work in multiplayer without leaving the shared game.

Mute music and gameplay effects with Sound in the Escape menu. Leaving the window
keeps combat and Auto countdowns running, with music and effects silent until you return.
